Amsterdam Dance Event has no festival ground: its parties are spread over hundreds of venues (more than 300 in 2025), and regular trams and metros stop around 00:30. Getting around comes down to the right ticket and a plan for the night network.
In 30 seconds
- A GVB day or multi-day ticket is valid day and night. The 1-hour ticket is not valid on night buses.
- Regular trams, buses and metros run until about 00:30. Night buses take over from 00:30 until 07:00.
- GVB ran extended metro hours on ADE weekend in 2025. For 2026, GVB says it will announce its ADE travel options soon, so check the GVB app (Gappie) before you go out.
What changes during Amsterdam Dance Event 2026?
ADE runs from Wednesday 21 to Sunday 25 October 2026. In 2025, GVB ran metro lines 52 and 54 until 02:00 on Friday and Saturday night, with lines 50 and 54 starting at 05:00 on Sunday. On 24 September, GVB's works overview listed nothing affecting the NDSM route or metro hours, but that is no guarantee.
Not yet announced (as of 24 September 2026):
- Extended metro hours for 2026. Plan as if the last metro leaves around 00:30.
- The discount on GVB day tickets that ADE says it can offer visitors.
- The full ferry schedule for ADE nights. We only checked the nights into Friday 23 and Sunday 25 October, and did not look for later departures.
How much does it cost?
| Ticket | Price | Valid | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| OVpay (debit or credit card, or phone) | €1,16 base fare plus €0,217 per km, capped at €10,50/day; €4 charged if you don't check out | Per ride, including night buses | One or two rides a day |
| GVB 1-hour ticket | €3,40 | 1 hour, all lines except night buses | A single daytime trip |
| GVB 24-hour ticket | €10,00 | 24 hours from first check-in, day and night | One big night out |
| GVB 48-hour ticket | €16,00 | 48 hours from first check-in, day and night | Friday and Saturday nights |
| GVB 120-hour ticket | €34,00 | 5 days from first check-in, day and night | All five ADE days |
| GVB night bus single | €5,70 | 1,5 hours, night buses only | One-off ride home after 00:30 |
| ADE Pro Pass free travel code | Included with the Pro Pass | 5 days, unlimited | Pro Pass holders |
(as of September 2026, GVB; Pro Pass travel: ADE)
A 48-hour ticket activated on Friday evening covers both weekend nights for less than two 24-hour tickets, and the 120-hour ticket beats five 24-hour tickets.
GVB is ADE's official public transport partner. According to ADE, Pro Pass holders collect their free-travel code at the ADE Info & Ticket Desk and enter it in the GVB app under Tickets, "I have an action code". The menu names are ADE's and may differ in your app. Not every ADE ticket includes free travel. If the app opens in Dutch, ADE says to switch it under Meer, Voorkeuren aanpassen, Taal.
Step-by-step: how to plan your ADE night
- Find every venue in the GVB app, where ADE says the festival locations are mapped, and note the last regular service.
- Choose your ticket: OVpay for a few rides, or a multi-day ticket, which starts at your first check-in.
- Leave before 00:30 if you want a tram or metro home, or check the ferry or night bus for your date in the app.
Getting to the venues and home after midnight
ADE points Pro conference visitors to metro 52 from Centraal Station; get off at Vijzelgracht, about a 2-minute walk from Felix Meritis. NDSM in Amsterdam-Noord hosts several ADE events, including DGTL from 22 to 25 October. Take the metro, a night bus or the free ferry.
The GVB ferry (F4) running from behind Centraal Station to NDSM is free for pedestrians and cyclists. GVB's trip planner shows departures from Centraal Station at 00:50 and 01:50 in the night into Friday 23 October, and at 03:15 (platform D, arriving at NDSM at 03:28) in the night into Sunday 25 October. This is not a complete list, and there may be later departures. Late ferry service varies by night, so check the planner for your date. The night bus is the fallback (about 33 minutes, €5,70).
Common mistakes
Mistake: Using a 1-hour ticket on a night bus. Fix: The 1-hour ticket is not valid on night buses. Use a day or multi-day ticket, or pay the night bus fare with OVpay.
Mistake: Assuming the metro runs all night. Fix: Regular services end around 00:30. Treat extended hours as a bonus and check the app.
Mistake: Forgetting to check out. Fix: Tap out every time you leave a tram, bus or metro. A missed check-out costs the €4 boarding fare, which you can reclaim through your MijnGVB account.
Roamy's quick checklist
- Plan your return before 00:30, or note the ferry or night bus for your date.
- Check the GVB app for extended metro hours before Friday.
- Check out every time you exit.
